Comparison of Response Surface Designs in a Spherical Region
نویسندگان
چکیده
The objective of the research is to study and compare response surface designs: Central composite designs (CCD), BoxBehnken designs (BBD), Small composite designs (SCD), Hybrid designs, and Uniform shell designs (USD) over sets of reduced models when the design is in a spherical region for 3 and 4 design variables. The two optimality criteria ( D and G ) are considered which larger values imply a better design. The comparison of design optimality criteria of the response surface designs across the full second order model and sets of reduced models for 3 and 4 factors based on the two criteria are presented. Keywords—design optimality criteria, reduced models, response surface design, spherical design region

Comparison of Five Design Variables of Response Surface Designs in a Spherical Region Over a Set of Reduced Models
The research extended the work of Chomtee and Borkowski (2012) which compared response surface designs—central composite designs (CCDs), Box-Behnken designs (BBDs), small composite designs (SCDs), Plackett-Burman composite designs (PBDs) and uniform shell designs (USDs)—over a set of reduced models in a spherical design region for five design variables (k = 5) based on the three alphabetic opti...
متن کاملFitting Second-order Models to Mixed Two-level and Four-level Factorial Designs: Is There an Easier Procedure?
Fitting response surface models is usually carried out using statistical packages to solve complicated equations in order to produce the estimates of the model coefficients. This paper proposes a new procedure for fitting response surface models to mixed two-level and four-level factorial designs. New and easier formulae are suggested to calculate the linear, quadratic and the interaction coeff...
متن کاملPreferred Robust Response Surface Design with Missing Observations Based on Integrated TOPSIS-AHP Method
- Missing observations occur in experimental designs as a result of insufficient sampling, machine breakdown, high cost, and errors in the measurements. In nanomanufacturing, missing observations often appear in designs because the combination of factors or molecular structures selected by a designer cannot be experimented successfully. In the current paper, Box-Behnken and face-centered compos...
متن کاملTunable Plasmonic Nanoparticles Based on Prolate Spheroids
Metallic nanoparticles can exhibit very large optical extinction in the visible spectrum due to localized surface plasmon resonance. Spherical plasmonic nanoparticles have been the subject of numerous studies in recent years due to the fact that the scattering response of spheres can be analytically evaluated using Mie theory. However a major disadvantage of metallic spherical nanoparticles is ...
متن کاملA Comparison of Thin Plate and Spherical Splines with Multiple Regression
Thin plate and spherical splines are nonparametric methods suitable for spatial data analysis. Thin plate splines acquire efficient practical and high precision solutions in spatial interpolations. Two components in the model fitting is considered: spatial deviations of data and the model roughness. On the other hand, in parametric regression, the relationship between explanatory and response v...
